Film Screening - Brother Outsider; The Life of Bayard Rustin

MOVIE CANCELLED BECAUSE OF SNOW!!
WILL BE RESCHEDULED! On the night before the Summit, this year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the great civil rights leaders Bayard Rustin.  His understanding and dedication to nonviolence helped to formulate the movement and he influenced Martin Luther King greatly. He was the brains behind the Freedom rides and helped to organize the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. His greatest achievement was the 1963 March on Washington.

This was a period of strong anti-gay bias and as Rustin was gay, he tended to stay out of the limelight.

This will be a very stimulating informative evening with some thoughts on how his legacy of nonviolence is very relevant today.
